Design Projects

Many of my projects are developed through a combination of both a creative and conceptual approach to tackling a problem and deriving at the best solution that I see fit. Design is best approached through taking knowledge learned and creating new and exciting solutions by thinking outside the box. I aim to approach each project with the idea of creating something that is unique, fun, and most importantly eye-catching.

LINE DESIGN

This project specifically explores the element of line and how it can be implemented in design to portray movement. It can be used as a method of creating meaning behind a non-representational work.

GOLDEN
RATIO

The golden ration is known to be one of the most well known ratios used to create mathematically and aesthetically designs. This ratio is often a tool that is used to create harmony and balance within a design.

ANIMAL
LOGO DESIGN

This project required the experimentation of using a grid and basic shapes to develop a slightly more complex figure or in this case an animal logo. Logo's need to be easily identifiable and straight to the point, nothing should get lost in the small details.

ARCHITECTUREMAGAZINE

The objective of this project was to create a spread that showcases modern architecture magazine design. This spread is made using only two inks and experimentation with duotones.

GRAPHIC PRODUCTION TERMINOLOGY

One of the most challenging, but unique and expressive designs I've done so far. Understanding the Graphic Production process is just as important as understanding the components that go into the design process.  Understanding how your designs transfer into the production process allows you to adapt your design to a variety of printing methods.

TYPOGRAPHIC CONTRAST

Typographic contrast is important in design in order to draw attention to specific elements of type. Contrasting  typographical characters can also establish emphasis and hierarchy within a design.

CONCORD

The use of concord can help to establish a clean design through the use of simple elements and typography. It provides a rather still and calm sense of movement throughout the piece.

DISCORD

The use of discord within design can create tension and more active movement within a piece. This can also be used as a method of creating contrast within a design.

EXPRESSIVE
TYPOGRAPHY

Expressive Typography focuses on the text or typography within a design being highly expressive. Letters become physical shapes that are intended to represent the literal meaning behind the word portrayed. This helps a designer to establish a strong connection between typography and the design itself.

DEVELOPING MY MONOGRAM LOGO

For any company, it's important to establish an identity, one that is specific and unique to the individual or group. The first step in establishing a company identity is through logo design. A logo must be easily identifiable and recognizable to viewers and clients. My logo includes my first, middle, and last initial through the use of a continuous stroke.
